Helen Donoghue

RN & Wound Care Specialist

I’m a Certified Wound care Specialist focusing on wound healing, assessment, wound infections and all things wounds. I qualified with a degree in general nursing from AIT in Ireland, many years ago. I worked in Ireland for 2 years prior to moving to Saudi Arabia where I worked for 5 years in surgical medical and day surgery units as RN and relief charge. I moved back home to Ireland for one year where I worked in Galway in ER and then decided to return to the Middle East, Abu Dhabi where I worked in post acute rehabilitation (PAR). This is what prompted my interest in diabetes as I was caring for patients post amputation related to uncontrolled diabetes. I then studied as a diabetic nurse educator with the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre in Abu Dhabi. This prompted me to further my education in the area of wound care and hence being a certified tissue viability nurse. I recently graduated from IIWCC – International Interpersonal Wound Care Certification with the University of Toronto and enjoying my career.
